Rev. Mario Perez

Rev. Ruth Ann Perez

Rev. Mario and Rev. Ruth Ann Perez grew up in Assembly of God Churches miles apart; she in Templo Emanuel - San Angelo, Texas and he in Templo Elim and Primera Asamblea de Dios - Corpus Christi, Texas. They met in 1972 and ended up at L. A. B. I. in 1978. Two years later they married in San Angelo, Texas on June 28th, 1980. Since then, they have served as Evangelists, Youth Pastors, Lead Pastors for over 40 years in the US and Mexico.

In 1983, they served as Youth Pastors at the Praise and Worship Church International with Pastors David and Diana Velasquez in Houston TX. For a couple of years they traveled the Country with the “Amigos” composed of Chico Velasquez, David & Rodney Block.
In 1986, they took a year off from ministry and moved back to Corpus Christi, Texas. After much prayer, and the formation of Word Supplier Ministries they recorded their first Album "SUPPLIER I - Cantad.” a mixture of English and Spanish pop songs with some Worship. All the music and lyrics are original and has been aired on many Radio Stations around the Country and Mexico.

In 1987 God led them to the Rio Grande Valley to serve as Youth Pastors for a Spanish Assembly of God in Primera, Texas with Rev. Samuel & Febe Rodriguez for a year.

In 1988 they moved to McAllen and worked with the Bernal Evangelism. Here Rev. Mario Perez worked as the Station Engineer as well as “On Air” personality for the Christian Radio Network; a conglomerate of over 60 station across the Country and Mexico. They both helped pioneer the Valley Worship Center - McAllen Campus, with a Campus in Brownsville, Laredo and San Antonio. During this time span SUPPLIER II - “What would you Say?" was recorded. An all English recording made up of some pop, rock and worship songs - all original compositions.

In July of 1991 they teamed up with Romeo and Martha Mireles to pioneer yet another church, "The Rock." This outreach in north McAllen, Texas was born to minister to street people and is still drawing lots of troubled teens and adults to the Lord yearly.

The following year, on March the 1st, 1992 they took yet another step of faith and accepted a small congregation in Weslaco, Texas - Weslaco Assembly of God on 8th & Oklahoma. The congregation has been in existence since 1959 under several Pastorates.

In 1995 the name was changed to MID VALLEY ASSEMBLY (MVA). Rev. Mario and Rev. Ruth Ann Perez have been serving Mid Valley Assembly as Lead Pastors now for over 31 consecutive years. They are both Ordained with the Assemblies of God. They both attended Latin American Bible College in El Paso, Texas and Global University in Springfield, Missouri.

During their stay in Weslaco, TX, SUPPLIER III - “No hay Como Tu!" an all Spanish Album was recorded. This recording was dedicated to Pastor Mario’s Mom. The music and lyrics on this recording are all original. In 2003, the Praise and Worship Team at MVA (Mid Valley Assembly) recorded their first ever CD, "Clap your Hands!” - all original music and lyrics. Several of the songs have been sung in Congregations across Texas and other states. All their Music can be heard on Spotify and can be purchased on Amazon Music, Apple Music and any Music outlet.

After the Church began to grow exponentially and having to use Pastor’s home for some Bible Classes, the small congregation prayed for bigger facilities. God heard their prayer and granted them the desire of their hearts.

In 2008, the congregation moved in to their new facilities on 28 acres located on Interstate 2 & Pleasantview Dr. in Weslaco, Texas. The all purpose building sits approximately 500. The vision is to build a 5,000 seat auditorium.

Mid Valley Assembly’s Purpose Statement

We exist to bring people into the kingdom of God, into our fellowship for worship, to develop them to Christ-like maturity, to prepare them for the work of the ministry and to send them out to win others for Christ. Matthew 28.19, 20; Mark 16.15; Matthew 22.37-40 We acquire, love, teach, train and send.

For over 31 years Pastor Mario and Pastor Ruth have been faithful to the Lord, to their calling and the work of the Ministry. They currently serve a congregation of approximately 400 with the help of 4 Associate Pastors.

Ministry at MVA has always been centered on worship and the Word. Church Programs are great but nothing can replace Worship of God and Learning his Word. The Praise and worship is very interactive and original. It’s not just a preliminary, but time spent in the presence of the Lord before we listen to the Word of God. A lot of Holy Spirit Ministry happens during the Worship segment.

In 2016, the FCC granted Mid Valley Assembly a Construction Permit to build a Radio Station. Well, to God’s glory, it’s been up and running for 5 years. The All New STAR of the Mid Valley - KWJV 103.7FM - also streaming live 24/7. Mid Valley Assembly also live streams their Church Services on Facebook Live, Youtube and the STAR 103.7FM

Pastor Mario just released his new Book “Pastor’s Musings.” A devotional book based on his personal experiences. According to most dictionaries “Musings” are periods of reflection or thought. “After so many years of living,” he states, “I’ve been able to experience God in so many incredible ways - in my Family, my Marriage, my Kids and Grandkids, my Ministry and my Music.” You can find “Pastor’s Musings” on Barnes & Noble, Amazon, GoogleBooks, Target and most book distributors
