Our 14th Annual 2 Weeks of Prayer were a success!.  Every year, God shows up and amazes us!  We take time to intercede for different People Groups; Mission field and Missionaries; Social issues; National, State and Local Government and various other needs each day.  We believe what God promises in his Word and apply it to our needs.  We've seen some wonderful things happen in our prayer sessions.  it was wonderful; the presence of the lord was so real each night.

1 John 5:14,15 "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us-- whatever we ask-- we know that we have what we asked of him."

Monday's Prayer Focus Point: Dreams, Goals, and Desires for 2008

Today, ask the Lord for Wisdom and Guidance to accomplish the things He has inspired you to do this year.  Remember to plan, pray, and write it down.  He has given us the power to think and imagine.  And because we serve a big God, let’s think BIG and dream big.  Let me remind you what Proverbs 16:1 says: “To man belong the plans of the heart…” Proverbs 16:3 says: “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Tonight, we will not just pray to the sky or to the ceiling, but to a caring God who wants to give us the desires of our heart.  Psalm 37.4 says, “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  Whatever you do; do not fret or worry about this coming year.  Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”  Jesus said in Matthew 6.33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  I love you church, get ready to experience the greatest year ever in every area of your life!

Tuesday's Prayer Focus Point: Youth, Young Adults

From Jr High to College & Career, satan is doing his very best to drag down young people into sin.  We must pray that our young adults do not “inherit the sins of their youth." Job 13:26)  Let’s intercede for our young men and women today that the Lord not “Remember the sins of their youth and their rebellious ways…”(Psalm. 25.7)  If you’re a young person here tonight, give yourself to God and see how He will reward you!  The Bible says, “Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see…”(Ec. 11.9)  My desire is that every L24 member will be able to say like the Psalmist in 71:5 For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.”  That in the year 2018, our Rangers and Girls Ministries’ kids will say, “we have known the Lord since our youth.”  How? “…By living according to God’s word.” (Ps. 119:9)  I know you feel indestructible, but the truth is… young people fall and slip up just like everybody else.  Isaiah 40:30 says, “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.”  These are the last days!  Get ready!  Acts 2:17 says, “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”  Let your lifestyle be evident to all.  1 Timothy 4.12 says, “Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”  2008 is yours!  It’s time to save the world!

Wednesday's Prayer Focus Point: Passion for the heart of God

From the time David was a little boy, he sought God in a different way.  Listen to what the Prophet Samuel, said in 1 Samuel 13.14, (speaking of David) “…the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people,...”  Paul mentions it in Acts 13.22 “…'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart…”  That’s an incredible statement – A man after my own heart!”  Ask yourself tonight; how can this be said of me?  While David was a good example, Jesus is the best example; He never sinned.  David was a fugitive, adulterer and a murderer, yet he repented and pursued God with total abandon.  Want to be known as someone who is after God's own heart?  Here are a few things to consider:  pursue his thoughts, pursue his interests, love what he loves and hate what he hates.  Live like there is no tomorrow; with total abandon and Passion for His heart!  David was not perfect, but he pursued the heart of God!  Jesus said in Matthew 22.37 "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”  If you want more of God in your life and circumstance, you need to seek after him like never before; with more intensity!  Dive into the deep things of God and see if He will not let you walk under and open heaven in every area of your life!

Thursday's Prayer Focus Point: Mission Field & Our Missionaries

We just received a fax from our World Missions Headquarters in Springfield, MO.  The political unrest in Kenya has affected the church.  The 9 Kenya Assemblies of God Districts report that 64,159 church members are homeless.  Almost 300 churches have closed their doors because everyone has fled for fear of their lives.  98 churches are damaged and unusable and 15 of them have been burned to the ground.  Leaders of the Kiambaa church near Eldoret report that 50 people were burned alive or beaten to death by an angry mob as they ran out of the burning church.  Of the 100 seriously injured, 16 people, mostly children have burns over 90% of their bodies.  Pastor Stephen Mburu sustained 6 machete hits to the head.  One blow slashed through his mouth, knocking out his front teeth.  He is in the hospital; his wife and kids are in a near by town.  These facts pertain only to the Assemblies of God churches, but there are other Fellowships and Denominations in Kenya who have suffered great losses too.  This is persecution at its worst; we must pray for our brothers and sisters in foreign countries as well as the Missionaries and their families. Let’s pray for our Missionaries: Renay West in Argentina; Mark & Kelly Baumgartner in Morocco; Jim & Linda Dempsey in Arizona among the Native Indians; Roger & Debbie Audorff in Monterrey, Mexico; Ron & Elaine Lasecki in Reynosa, México; Kendall & Kristi Reavis in the Netherlands; Keith & Celeste Boudreaux in Houston among the Chinese People.

Friday's Prayer Focus Point: National Ministries & Ministers

The list is long and it would take days to pray for all these.  We may not agree on the style, dress and on the things they say, but they are ministering to someone; one way or another.  If any of these are not being honest with the masses that watch on TV or listen on the Radio, let God judge and deal with them.  Our job tonight is to intercede for them.  Underline the ones you know and pray for them longer.

Saturday’s Prayer Focus Point: Addictions

An addiction, whatever it may be, is a powerful thing.  The bible describes it one way in Ephesians 4:19 “Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.”  An addict is never satisfied and always craves for more.  Whatever the addiction, he must get another fix and then another and so on.  An addict starts slow, never intending to go hard core, but transitions from dabbling to a full blown addict.  Addictions vary, here are some examples: Drugs - (spray paint, beer, coolers, hard liquor, marijuana, crack/cocaine, heroine, meth, ecstasy,)  Immorality - (fornication, adultery, internet porn, pornography magazines, lust, sexual abuse, incest, homosexuality)  Food - (desserts, candy, chips, meat, seafood, soft drinks) Entertainment - (sitcoms, soaps, documentary, sports events, cooking shows, news channel, HBO, Cinemax, MTV, movies, video games)  How are people set free?  Only through the power of the Cross!  Only when an addict accepts Christ as savior can he begin to be set free.  Jesus said in Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed…”  That is why Jesus came! 1 John 3:8 “He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.”

Monday’s Prayer Focus Point: Widows and the Fatherless

The Bible is clear about the way we are to treat the widows and orphans.  Ex. 22.22 “Do not take advantage of a widow or an orphan.”  De. 10.18 says that the Lord “defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow…”  In Ps. 68.5, God declares himself to be, “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows…”  Is. 1.17 says we are to, “Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”  Jer. 22.3 says“…Do no wrong or violence to the fatherless or the widow…”  Jas. 1.27 says if we are really Christians, we need to, “look after orphans and widows in their distress…”  Should we look after every widow and every orphan?  1 Tim. 5.3 “Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.”  The scriptures say in 1Tim. 5.9 “No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, 10 and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the saints, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.” Family comes first.  1Tim 5.4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.”  Pray for provision, protection, health and spiritual insight for the widows.  Ask the Lord to provide food, shelter, water and Christian foster parents for young orphans.  There is a blessing for looking out for the less fortunate.  De. 14.29 “…so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.”

Tuesday’s Prayer Focus Point: Financial Freedom & Prosperity

The Israelites had lots of gold and silver when they left Egypt.  Imagine 3.5 million people with gold and silver – that’s a lot of transferred cash! Exodus 12:35 says, “The Israelites asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold…” 36…so they plundered the Egyptians.”  But where were they going to spend the cash; in the dessert? What did they do?  They used their gold to create an idol.  When we don’t understand the purpose of money, we use it to create idols.  It was clear that God wanted the silver and gold for his dwelling place.  Exodus 25.8 “…have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.” Exodus 25:2 "Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from each man whose heart prompts him to give. 3 These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze;” This is the purpose of money – to build a dwelling place for God.  De 8:18 “…God gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant…”  Financial Freedom & Prosperity will come to us when we become distribution centers.  When God sees that we will not horde it up, but bring prosperity to others, he will then give us more.  Prosperity is not real until we can prosper others.  Pray this: “Lord, I want to be a distribution warehouse for you!  I want you to use me to bless others.  Help me understand the purpose of my income.”  Ask the Lord, “Forgive me for squandering my money and help me invest in your Kingdom!  Make me a wise steward of my cash and possessions.”

Wednesday’s Prayer Focus Point: Sectional Congregations & Pastors

The Bible admonishes us to pray for those in authority over us.  We are to pray for our pastors and leaders in our congregations.  There are 11 church congregations along with their Staff, Elders, Associates and lay leaders.  Tom Carruba Brownsville; George De La Garza – Combes; Rick Ziesmer – Edinburg; Javier Garcia – Edinburg; Wade Peyton – Harlingen; Mike Glover – McAllen; Israel Soto – McAllen; Rick Gannon – Mission; Steven Hyde – Port Isabel; Sam Saldivar – Raymondville; Mario Perez – Weslaco.  Pray that the eyes of Pastors and Leaders will be enlightened.  Pray that Pastors and Leaders will not cease to pray.  Pray that a spirit of discernment comes upon them to see the enemy’s schemes and tactics.  Pray that every weapon formed against the church will not prosper.  Pray that Pastors will not get puffed up with pride, but remain humble as they serve their congregations and community.  Come against the pressures related to counseling and ministry.  Pray that Pastors will be great parents!  Pray that Pastors and Leaders will remain in the shadow of the Almighty always!

Thursday’s Prayer Focus Point: Commitment

Today is ‘commitment’ Thursday.  Tonight we are asking the Lord for supernatural strength to be committed.  The word ‘commitment’ is not found in the Bible; ‘commit’ is.  Psalm 37:5 says, Commit your way to the Lord…”  In the original Hebrew, it means: to roll down, to roll together or to trust.  When Jesus was about to die he said in Luke 23:46 “…"Father, into your hands I commit my spirit…” In Greek it means ‘trust.’  ‘Commit’ and ‘trust’ are closely related.  When we commit to the Lord our plans, our lives, our family; we are trusting God with them.  There is no uncertainty and no apprehensions; we are committed.  Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.Commitment means having a fixed, sincere and steadfast purpose.  It also means being bound to a course of action.  What are we to committing ourselves to?  #1 Our Lord – be committed to the Lord in all that He asks of you; #2 Our Family – be committed to your family’s best interests and spiritual well being; #3 Our Church, Work, Friends Hobbies, etc. – be committed to your church family, your co-workers, your friends and everything else you like to do.  Do it all with purpose!  Do everything in your power this year and for the rest of your life to be committed to these priorities and I guarantee success in all you do.  God has promised it!!!!!!!!!

Friday’s Prayer Focus Point: Virtues & Fruit of the Spirit

If I am going to be successful in 2008, I need more of the Lord in my life.  This will yield a life of virtue and character.  In essence I will bear good fruit.  Jesus said in Matthew 7:16, “By their fruit you will recognize them.”  My behavior and character will be good if Jesus is sitting on the throne of my life.  The opposite is also true – if I let anyone other than Christ on the throne of my life; rotten fruit will be evident.  Paul gave the Galatians a list of the good and bad fruit in chapter 5:19-23 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control…”  David said, in Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.  God promises me success if I close to the streams of water.  Thank you Jesus – I will be led by your Spirit! In Jesus name!  This year Lord, all we see how great you are in my life!

Saturday’s Prayer Focus Point: Government

This is an election year, so we must pray that God will establish the right leader for our Country.  The scriptures are clear about submitting and praying for those in charge.  Government is the administration or management of an organization, business, or institution and it’s God's idea.  Romans 13:1 “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”  1 Peter 2:13 “Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority,14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.”  Hebrews 13:17 “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.”  Ephesians 6:1 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 "Honor your father and mother"-- which is the first commandment with a promise-- 3 "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."  That’s why we must pray for those in charge.  1 Timothy 2:1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  We can rebel against our authorities when we are commanded not to worship God, (Dan 6:5) when we area made to worship idols (Dan 3:11), made to murder the innocent (Ex 1:15-17) and commanded not to preach. (Acts 4:16; 5:27)
